What does a day at PA Camp Look Like?

  • 9:00 am - 1:00 pm 
  • Kids are grouped by age/skill/school 
  • Morning - skill sessions 
    • Journaling: Writing down goals & what we learn at camp helps keep us accountable & focused to achieve success both on & off the field!
    • Circuit Skill Sessions: Every day will focus on a new topic - foundational skills (dodges, passing, dribbling), offense, defense, possession, and more!
  • Afternoon: Team Practice & Tournament Team Play!
    • Youth and Middle school/HS  tournament in the afternoon 
    • Teams are assigned Day 1 - You get to have a "team practice" - get to know each other, go over free hits, corners, etc! 
    • Day 2 - 4 Game Play
      • All teams will compete in 7v7 games to prepare for the Championship Games on Day 5
    • Day 5 - Tournament bracket to reveal the champions!
      • Teams will dress up in their team color on Day 5 and compete to win the Camp Championship!
NEW THIS YEAR - OLYMPIC WEEK!
  • Camp Olympics has been a fan favorite since the beginning of BSFH camps
  • This year - Olympic competitions will take place at the end of each camp day - 1 competition a day as an individual, with your team, or with a partner! 
    • Prizes will be given out each day for the team/player that wins!
  • Day 5 will include the coveted Dance Competition!

WE HOST AN ANNUAL DANCE COMPETITION TO CLOSE OUT THE OLYMPIC DAY AND GIVE OUT CAMP PRIZES!!!!


INFO & REMINDERS

  • Equipment: Each player needs to provide their own equipment - shinguards, mouthguards, socks, shoes/cleats, sticks, goalie gear, etc. 
  • BSFH Team Store: During check-in, we will have a BSFH team store available that includes socks, scrunchies, t-shirts, pinnies & more! (Cash & Venmo)
  • Water: Make sure your camper brings more than enough water to last the day. Water ($2) & Gatorade will be for sale during camp ($3). 
  • Sunscreen: Please make sure to bring sunscreen & have your athlete wear it
  • Snacks & Break: Each day does have a designated break time (about 30 minutes) Please supply your camper with snacks & food to fuel their bodies! DO NOT BRING PEANUT BUTTER SNACKS. We will have some snacks for sale throughout the week too! 
  • Journaling: We begin each camp day with a journal. Please provide your camper with a journal & writing utensils. There are limited journals for sale for $2 at the check-in table
  • Special Guest Monday & Wednesday: On Monday & Wednesday, Coach Torrey will be running a strength & conditioning session for all of our campers! He is awesome & will help us grow our game!
  • Kona Ice: Kona Ice will be attending camp on Wednesday! Please send cash for your camper if they would like Kona Ice during break!
  • Friday Tournament/Color Wars Day: On the last day of camp (Friday), we will run a camp tournament & Camp Color Wars! Parents are welcome to spectate! Each camper will be assigned to a team during the week, and the team will select a team color for Tournament Day. Campers are encouraged to arrive to camp on Friday decked out in their team color! Feel free to get creative! (tutus, face paint, etc all welcome!) Friday also includes the camp dance competition! 
  • Pinnies: If you already own a BSFH pinny, please wear it to camp. If you are new, we will provide you with a camp pinny!
  • WEATHER: We will be monitoring the weather closely next week for heat or storms. Our goal is to run a safe camp. We will play in the rain, but we will NOT play in Thunderstorms. Please make sure your camper is dressed appropriately for the weather every day of camp. We will communicate updates through email & our Instagram account regarding weather updates (@bluestarfieldhockey)

HEAT PROTOCOLS:

  • We have a dedicated trainer on site for all athletes. 
  • We will take ample water breaks between stations and games to keep athletes hydrated. 
  • We will have tents on site for campers to sit under
  • Water coolers are available, and we will be selling Gatorade for $3
  • Please make sure your athletes are hydrating TODAY and throughout the weekend
  • All athletes should have something to eat before camp begins. 
  • Feel free to send your kids with "Ice Towels". You only need a towel, a Ziploc bag, and some water/ice. Place a damp towel in a Ziploc with ice and the athletes can put it on their neck/head if they overheat. 
  • Our hottest days will be Tuesday. Be prepared!

Why Blue Star FH Camps?

We believe in using Field Hockey as a vehicle for empowering young girls to be confident in their abilities. As a sport, Field Hockey has been a major positive force in our lives. We also believe in using field hockey to build character, work ethic and teach life-long lessons. At Blue Star, our mission is to develop great young field hockey players and great young women.  

Blue Star Field Hockey Camps provide individualized instruction for beginners to advanced players.  Players will get the instruction and repetitions they need, from fundamentals all the way to college-level skills. Above all, Blue Star will ensure that every camp is a safe and fun learning environment! We provide skill building, team bonding, competitive tournament play,  and fun activities for all ages - like our annual Dance Competition and Olympic Day!

BECOME A MEMEBER OF USA FH

Blue Star Field Hockey is a USA FH sanctioned club. USA FH membership is required to participate in any Blue Star events.
